Scalesia Foundation is a local NGO created in 1991 to provide an education alternative for residents in the Archipielago.
The
Foundation’s main project is the Tomas de Berlanga School which is a private school with 100 students
enrolled from pre-kinder to 12th grade. The school graduated its first class in 2007. Tomas de
Berlanga students are curious lifelong learners who actively participate in their local communities.
The
School is working hard at enhancing its curriculum to influence these young minds and shape
them into critical thinkers who are aware of their society and the environment they live in.
Lonesome George
& Co. shares these ideals and has commintted to support the School’s efforts to raise conservation
awareness in the Islands.
Our goal is that students from Tomas de Berlanga eventually graduate, with a
systemic awareness of what it means to be born and raised in a world-heritage-site.
We are product to be a part of Scalesia’s effort to develop a passion in students to contribute to the sustainable development of the Islands and the rest of the world.
